Glass
Glass decisions are about light, privacy, noise and comfort. We confirm the right specification for each opening at survey.
Double glazing
The standard for most replacement windows and doors.
Two panes of glass separated by a sealed, gas-filled cavity. Modern units use low-emissivity coatings and warm-edge spacers, which together do most of the work in keeping heat in.
For the majority of Yorkshire homes — stone cottages, terraces, farmhouses and newer houses alike — a good double-glazed unit in a well-fitted frame is the sensible default.
Worth considering
- Suits almost every window and door
- Lighter than triple, so slimmer sashes and easier opening
- Can be combined with acoustic, obscure, solar-control or safety glass
Performance depends on the full specification and is confirmed per project.
