Sliding Doors

Ultra-slim sliders for open elevations.

Stone extension with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors

What are sliding doors?

Sliding doors are large glass panels that slide past one another on a track. Because the panels are big and the meeting frames slim, the view is interrupted as little as possible.

We installed two Cortizo Cor Vision sliding doors in York in December 2025.

Where it works best

  • Rear extensions
  • Garden rooms
  • Whole-house glazing projects

Why people choose it

  • Minimal interruption across wide openings
  • Large panes with slim interlocks
  • Suited to rear extensions and garden rooms

Design options

Decided at specification

Panel configuration
Two, three or more panels, with fixed and sliding panels arranged around how the room is used.
Opening width
Planned against the structural opening and any steelwork.
Threshold
Low or flush thresholds considered alongside drainage and weather exposure.
Sightlines
Slim interlocks between panels to keep the glass continuous.

Technical figures — sizes, thermal and security ratings — are confirmed for your specific specification rather than quoted generically. Systems used include Cortizo Cor Vision.

Planning & conservation

Whether consent is needed depends on the property and the local authority. We check before specifying.

Questions

Are sliding doors better than bifold doors?

Neither is better overall. Sliding doors give bigger panes and slimmer frames; bifolds can open almost the full width. The choice depends on the opening, the view and how you use the space.

How much do sliding doors cost?

There is no meaningful fixed price. Cost depends on size, configuration, glass, colour, hardware, access and the complexity of installation. We provide a written quotation against an agreed specification, typically within 48 hours of having the details we need.
