Product Comparisons
Honest side-by-side comparisons.
- Aluminium vs uPVC WindowsAluminium gives slimmer frames, more glass and a crisper architectural look, at a higher cost. uPVC is typically more affordable and suits many traditional homes, especially in flush or heritage profiles. The right choice depends on the house, the look you want and budget.
- Flush Casement vs Standard Casement WindowsIn a flush casement, the opening sash sits flush with the frame, like a traditional timber casement. In a standard casement, the sash overlaps the frame. Flush looks more traditional; standard is usually more affordable.
- Sliding Sash vs Casement WindowsMatch what the house was built with. Georgian and Victorian houses were usually built with sliding sashes; cottages and many farmhouses with casements. Swapping one for the other changes the character and may need permission in protected settings.
- Sliding Doors vs Bifold DoorsSliding doors give bigger panes of glass, slimmer sightlines and uninterrupted views when closed. Bifolds open almost the whole width. If you mostly look out, choose sliding; if you mostly open up, bifolds may suit better.
- Aluminium vs Timber WindowsTimber is traditional and sometimes expected on listed buildings; it needs regular maintenance. Aluminium is slim and low-maintenance but a different material. We supply aluminium and uPVC, not timber — where timber is expected, we'll say so.
- Bifold Doors vs French DoorsFrench doors are a pair of hinged doors — simple and traditional, suited to narrower openings. Bifolds fold back across a wider opening. We supply bifold and sliding doors; our French door range is still being confirmed.
- Steel-Look vs Genuine Steel WindowsSteel-look windows are aluminium designed to resemble slim steel frames. Genuine steel is thinner still and traditional in some listed buildings, but costs more. We supply steel-look aluminium, not steel.
